Ian Mikita graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2004 with a degree in computer science, but left the I.T. field mid-2007 to concentrate on performance and artistic creation. He's been a regular at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival, appearing in 'Sorority Girls Slumber Party Massacre: The Musical' in 2000, and 2009's 'The Gas Heart'. He's currently a member of Wildfire, a local fire performance group formed in 2006, who've been featured at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival, Winnipeg Folk Festival, and Western Canadian Summer Games. More recently he's begun training in contemporary dance, having performed in works by choreographers Jennifer Essex and Giana Sherbo, including Sherbo's summer 2007 full-length, 'The Playground' and 'This is not a Conspiracy', featured in the January 2009 WCD show. Ian currently plays drums in the local funky-rocky-soulful outfit 'The Shouting Ground', who've just released their first EP, and is also singing bass in the newly-formed 10-member vocal ensemble 'Antiphony'. |
