The Manitoba Indigenous Law Student Association (MILSA) is hosting a night of entertainment on October 11, 2017 from 6-8PM at the Dramatic Arts Centre on 585 Ellice Avenue. Annually, MILSA’s Entertainment Cabaret Night raises funds to help law students attend the Indigenous Bar Association (IBA) Conference. This year’s IBA is in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The IBA Conference brings together Indigenous lawyers, judges, academics, professors, and students to gather and discuss issues related to law and Indigenous peoples.
MILSA works to create opportunities for law students and promote a greater understanding of Indigenous Laws and legal issues. We are looking for performers like you to share your gifts for a 5-10 minute performance at $25.00. Last year, at the Indigenous Entertainment Night we featured the talents of Kristy Janvier, Ian Ross, and Ryan McMahon among others, for a night filled with laughter and good music. With your help, we hope to make this year’s event even bigger and better! Last year through the help of donations from organizations and the Entertainment Cabaret, we helped with costs for 10 law students to attend the IBA 2016 Conference. We also brought a speaker series of professionals on Restorative Justice Practices to our law school.
If you’re interested in being apart of our fundraiser as a performer, please send an email to email@example.com for more information or call/text Rayanna Seymour at (204)430- 7071.
